A 365.8% sales explosion is the kind of number that makes even seasoned market watchers do a double take. In Ukraine, it belongs to BYD — and it has carried the Chinese manufacturer nine places up the brand ranking into second spot, the standout act of a Ukrainian market that returned to growth in 2025.

The recovery itself, tracked by Focus2move, was anything but a straight line. After slumping through the earlier months of the year, the market turned positive in the fourth quarter and held that momentum to finish 16.3% ahead on full-year sales. For a trade that has learned to treat every uptick with caution, the fourth-quarter swing is the most persuasive evidence yet that demand is genuinely returning.

BYD's charge is the story within the story. A nine-place leap to second transforms the brand from an intriguing experiment into a market pillar, with consequences reaching far beyond one scoreboard: showroom strategies, import volumes, aftersales networks and parts logistics across Ukraine must all adjust to a reality in which a Chinese name sits near the very top. For dealers and distributors, the question is no longer whether Chinese brands can break through in Ukraine — the 2025 data says they already have.

Every riser has a faller, and the counterpoint is Nissan, which slipped out of the market's leading group as the ranking reshuffled at speed. Ukraine's trajectory looks even more striking set against its region: Eastern Europe's market is estimated at roughly 3.4 million units, growing just 0.6% — meaning Ukraine is expanding at many times the regional pace.
