Seventeen Korean auto parts makers, one Czech automotive giant and a marathon of one-on-one meetings: Prague has just staged one of Central Europe's most consequential supplier courtships. The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency, better known as KOTRA, brokered face-to-face talks between the Korean delegation and Škoda's procurement team, handing each firm a direct line to one of Europe's most sought-after buyers.

The urgency behind the courtship is easy to grasp. Czech EV output jumped 89 percent to 285,000 units last year, and the country stands as the European Union's third-largest auto producer. Every electrified model program that rolls out of Czech plants means new contracts across the EV value chain — and Korean suppliers have no intention of watching that business from the sidelines.

Nor did the delegation arrive cold. More than 20 Korean tier-1 and tier-2 suppliers already operate production bases in the Czech Republic alongside Hyundai Motor, giving the country's industrial map a distinctly Korean accent. That installed base means the newcomers understand Czech logistics, labor and quality expectations — and Škoda's buyers know precisely what Korean suppliers can deliver.

The conversations stretched well beyond simple parts deliveries. Reports on the event describe consultations ranging from direct supplies to automakers to entering supply chains through established parts suppliers — a tier-two backdoor into business that might otherwise take years to win. Interest wasn't confined to Škoda, either: Hutchinson's Rokycany plant was also reported to be seeking companies, a sign the Korean delegation's appeal rippled well beyond a single carmaker.

Behind the carefully brokered one-on-ones lies methodical groundwork. KOTRA has been charting Czech EV supply chain trends and market entry routes in a dedicated report, and its findings point to a market in mid-transformation. As European automakers localize EV production amid mounting trade pressures, being inside the tent in Central Europe is worth far more than exporting from afar — which is exactly why Korean suppliers keep arriving in Prague with order books in hand.

The parts pitched in Prague will one day roll across Europe's roads inside finished vehicles. Readers looking for a vehicle of their own can find sensational cars at sensational conditions at WorldTrader24, Europe's marketplace with over 70,000 vehicles.
