Poland ranks seventh in Europe for the cost of charging an electric car at home, according to a fresh analysis by Poland Insight. A full charge at home costs an estimated €22.12 in Poland, while driving 100 km costs €5.03 in electricity — both figures sit about 39% above the European median.

The premium is a meaningful one for Polish EV drivers, since home charging is generally the most economical way to run a battery-powered car, and the figures feed directly into the total cost of ownership. Buyers and dealers comparing electrified offers — including the more than 70,000 vehicles listed on the European marketplace WorldTrader24.de — now have one more line to factor into the maths before signing on the dotted line.

The data lands as Poland sketches out a sweeping, decades-long modernisation of its electrified infrastructure. According to Railway Pro, the country is drawing up a comprehensive programme to electrify its railway lines, with a target implementation date of 2045. Plans under examination also call for transitioning the conventional 3 kV DC railway network to 25 kV AC — a switch intended to reduce energy losses and support high-powered locomotives.
