Elmos Semiconductor has extended its supply agreement for the Dortmund wafer fab, gaining access to significantly increased wafer capacity until at least 2028. The company said the move improves supply reliability amid a tight allocation environment for automotive-grade wafers.
Elmos, a specialist in mixed-signal semiconductors for the automotive market, told customers and investors the additional capacity complements its foundry partnerships and supports production of components used in power management, sensor interfaces and safety systems. The company framed the extension as a strategic step to protect deliveries for carmakers and tier‑1 suppliers.
Deal details and company comment
The arrangement — announced in trade reporting on 2 November 2026 and described earlier in Elmos’ corporate releases — gives Elmos access to expanded production volumes at the Dortmund fab through at least 2028. Elmos CEO Dr Arne Schneider was quoted saying the extension "is a highly attractive solution for Elmos. We are securing additional wafer capacity and further strengthening the reliability of our supply."
Elmos has pursued a fabless strategy in recent years while maintaining long-term capacity agreements to reduce allocation risk for its automotive customers. The firm said the Dortmund capacity complements wafer volumes it secures via external foundry partners and helps address rising demand for high-voltage and mixed-signal technologies in vehicles.
