There is a new badge on Croatia's motoring map. Spanish SUV brand EBRO has just opened its first dealership in Zagreb, formally launching its commercial activity in the country and marking the latest stop in a deliberate march into new European markets — and the arrival is anything but tentative.

One showroom is only the opening move. EBRO has announced an expansion plan that foresees eight centres across Croatia within a year, a pace that would make the brand one of the fastest-scaling newcomers on the country's retail scene. For dealer groups weighing their franchise portfolios, the message is unmistakable: the brand is in the market for partners, floor space and service capacity now.

The retail push rests on a production story that links the Adriatic to the Mediterranean. Every vehicle destined for Croatia is assembled at the Ebro Factory plant in Barcelona's Zona Franca, meaning each new market the brand adds feeds volume directly back into its Spanish manufacturing base. Croatia's rollout is therefore also a Barcelona story — international expansion is being used deliberately to stoke activity at the home plant.

Nor is Croatia the end of the line. EBRO is simultaneously preparing its arrival in neighbouring Slovenia, where it will market four SUVs manufactured in Barcelona. Taken together, the two moves sketch a coherent regional strategy: plant a beachhead in Zagreb, then push into the wider region with a full model range in tow.
