Europe's new-car market is increasingly split in two. While passenger car sales across the entire European Union declined by 1.9%, the Central and Eastern European (CEE) region outperformed the EU average with an average growth rate of 1.8%, according to a market analysis published by Autowallis. The report describes a "divided Europe" in which several Western European car markets have stalled even as the CEE region continues to expand.
The longer-term data underlines the region's momentum. An overview of Central and Eastern Europe's automobile market by AAA Weekly shows that automobile sales across 20 CEE countries increased by 16.4% year-on-year to 4,938,196 units in 2024 — the highest level in the past 11 years — with the report pointing to significant growth in the region's largest market as a key driver of the result.
The used-car segment is emerging as a particular growth engine. Persistence Market Research identifies Poland as the fast-growing country market in Europe's used-car sector, with an estimated compound annual growth rate of approximately 6.9% through 2033, driven by rising household incomes and the world's highest per-capita used-car imports. International operators have taken note of that potential: in June 2024, Cazoo expanded its logistics network by establishing regional distribution centers in Poland and Spain, enabling faster delivery times and broader geographic coverage.
Electrification is the next frontier for the region's commercial vehicle business. Forecasts from Autovista24 indicate that battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) are expected to represent more than a third of new light-commercial vehicle sales in Western and Central Europe from 2030 — a shift with direct implications for fleet operators, leasing companies and LCV dealers across the CEE region.
For trade participants, this two-speed market makes cross-border vehicle sourcing a competitive necessity rather than an option. The European marketplace WorldTrader24.de, which lists more than 70,000 vehicles, enables dealers to identify and secure stock aligned with regional demand — from used cars bound for Poland's fast-expanding market to light-commercial vehicles positioned for the electric transition ahead.
Buyers benefit from the same breadth of supply. Instead of searching national listings market by market, professional dealers and end customers alike can compare vehicles from across Europe in one place, shortening the path between spotting the regional trend — stagnation in the West, sustained growth in the CEE — and actually sourcing the right vehicle on the platform.
