Chinese industrial group SANY has acquired 100% of Spark Terminal SRL, the developer of a standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) with an installed capacity of 153 MW located in the Borzești area of Bacău county in Romania. The deal was reported in Romanian and regional press in late October 2026; reporting and an EY-Parthenon announcement state the transaction involved Spark Terminal SRL being transferred from RNV Infrastructure (part of the Renovatio group) to SANY International (Singapore) Industrial Co. Pte. Ltd. on the deal disclosed in late October 2026.
Transaction details and context
EY-Parthenon Romania confirmed it provided financial and tax due diligence to SANY International in the acquisition process, with its public note dated 21 October 2026 describing the scope of advisory work on the Spark Terminal transaction. The project acquired is described consistently in reporting as a 153 MW standalone BESS in Borzești.
Local reporting and the buyer’s announced Romania programme place the Borzești site inside a broader SANY plan for the country that, according to multiple local outlets, has previously included proposed investments of more than €1 billion covering large photovoltaic parks, an energy-storage portfolio totalling gigawatt-hours of capacity and a possible manufacturing/assembly facility in Ghimbav, Brașov county. Those earlier disclosures list two PV parks of roughly 800 MW each and an energy-storage pipeline of about 2.34 GWh as elements discussed publicly in 2026.
