Joe Gibbs Racing to swap Hamlin, Busch pit crews

Joe Gibbs Racing will swap pit crews between Denny Hamlin and Kyle Busch’s groups starting this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway.

Hamlin superior into the Spherical of 12 within the NASCAR Cup Sequence playoffs over the weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway. However two-time sequence champion Kyle Busch was eradicated after a catastrophic engine failure.

Busch’s No. 18 over-the-wall crew has been one of many quickest and most constant on pit street this season. Hamlin’s crew has been a bit extra inconsistent, fighting unfastened wheels and different miscues.

“With the 18 eradicated from championship rivalry, we felt the transfer was essential to optimize the 11’s possibilities by the rest of the playoffs,” Chris Corridor, the director of participant development at Joe Gibbs Racing, advised RACER. “Nevertheless, we totally anticipate each groups to assist their respective crew contend for race wins to shut the 2022 season.”

It is going to be a full crew swap between the groups.

Hamlin will now work with Thomas Hatcher (entrance tire changer), Lee Cunningham (tire service), CJ Bailey (rear tire changer), Kellen Mills (jackman), and Matthew Tyrrell (fueler).

Busch’s automobile will now be pitted by Blake Houston (entrance tire changer), Jacob Holmes (tire service), Michael Hicks (rear tire changer), Derrell Edwards (jackman), and Justin White (fueler).

Hamlin begins the second spherical of the playoffs because the sixth seed.
